Who are Sapone + Kandila?
Sapone + Kandila Co. are a two woman team from New York. Donna and Mary met each other over 18 years ago working at a scientific research facility in NYC.
S+K Co. was founded while at a personal crossroad in 2018. The grant that Mary was on ended and Donna had a change in her work responsibilities .
They both were trying to figure out where they wanted to take their life next. At the time, they would talk how commercial soaps and candles are bad for you as well as the environment...and the both being in the scientific field, these issues did not sit with them well!
They love science, soaps, & candles... so why not make soaps and candles that won't hurt you or the environment?
A few months later, and they was ready to share their passion with the world. They started their online shop and signed up for local craft shows and farmer’s markets.
Expanding their business was a major part of our success. They had family and friends help them just to keep the soaps and candles coming. With COVID-19 impacting the planet, we had to find creative ways to overcome the setbacks of essentially starting a business while working from our homes.
Part of this success meant defining our long-term goals, too. We all had our own ideas for the business and the opportunities it could afford us. With deep roots in NYC and Westchester – we knew we needed to focus on our community. We plan to work with local makers and entrepreneurs to empower them to take the leap, as we have. We have (and plan to do many more!) worked with local organizations to donate a portion of our proceeds to great causes.

Our Products
We take our soaps, candles, & crochet creations from concept to customer, with a variety of natural, handmade products for everyone. We specialize in hand-poured soaps & candles, and we have a knack for making beautiful crochet products to complement our soaps.
All our soaps are hot processed in small batches and are made from high quality organic oils, butters, and essential oils. All of our fragrance oils are paraben, phthalate, and sulfate-free.
Our candles are also hand poured in small batches. We only use 100% organic coconut and apricot wax scented with either essential oils or fragrance oils that are paraben, phthalate, and sulfate-free. Our wicks are 100% natural braided fiber.

Our goal is to create all natural & pure products that leave your skin feeling great and your house smelling wonderful, without all the toxins, chemicals, and pollutants found in most commercially made soaps & candles.
We have slowly perfected the art of providing our customers with beautiful, hand made products that not only looks and smells amazing, but is also safe and makes you FEEL good.
